Design verses Content

I haven’t been posting much in the last few months because I’ve been designing a blog for a friend and my webmaster duties for the Cal-MOAA site have taken up most of my free time. My original focus for this blog was on writing as a craft, or having writers block, or anything that involves writing as a creative process and/or expression of some deep, insightful, internal, and maybe even a spiritual journey. But I haven’t done much of any kind of writing, here or anywhere else. No, I’d rather spend my creative juices designing other peoples blogs and Web sites than to spend time enriching mine. What I’ve discovered about myself is that I like, no … I love creating but when it comes to adding content, you know, the thing that makes a site valuable, I’d rather move on to the next creative project, usually for someone else because I don’t have to add (write) the content. I find that discovery intriguing and exasperating, in equal amounts. I have great ideas but no drive to follow through to completion. That’s the story of my life in general.

Sheesh! I didn’t start out to write a self-inflicted bitch session. I actually intended to promote myself by posting the link to my newest creation, so here it is: Silver Fox Whispers I enjoyed creating this blog, which is not yet completed but functional. I still need to create a section for book reviews and jump into designing Maria’s Album section. I really know nothing about online album development and have never used any kind of album software, so it should be a challenge … just what I love, it makes me think outside of my sometimes ridged thought process and while I’m in the throws of extreme frustration and threatening to pull my hair out, I’m loving every minute of it.
