Blog Update

Well, I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my version of WordPress to the current one. Since mine old one was 1.2 and the new version is much different as far as template design, I can’t use my old design without doing some major tweaking to the CSS and the page templates. So, I’ve opted to use this one for now, which has it’s own problems as you can see (fixed the problem) but I kind of like the red for a change.

I will be creating my own theme from my old design with some changes. Not sure exactly what I will change, depends on my mood at the time. Now all I have to do is find some free time.

BTW, for anyone hesitating on doing the upgrade, especially those using much older versions of WordPress, the upgrade went smooth as silk. Not a single problem, everything is functioning as it should.

What sort of problems were you having with the theme originally? I just released it today so there may have beem some technical difficulties with it. Glad to see you’re using it, and I like what you’ve done with the header!

Sorry, I didn’t realize you had commented. Your comment was sent to moderation, not sure why since I do not have it set to moderate comments.

The problem was that the Posted, Category, and Comment links at the top of the post went to the far left, off the page layout (graphic page). A minor problem in the CSS. You called the class “entrymeta” in the index page but the CSS had “.entry div.entrymeta” which didn’t call the correct class. All I did was change the CSS to .entrymeta.

Another small problem is that images also move off the graphic page which you can see in this post - http://www.wild-mind.net/archives/2005/04/04/my-desert-in-bloom/

I haven’t tried to fix it, probably a simple fix. I was going to leave a message on your site but got caught up in some email problems that are still not resolved.

I do like your theme but I will be doing my own when time permits. Your theme is one of the better ones that I’ve seen and I’ve seen a lot! I only changed the name in the header. I think most people would prefer to have their own blog name in the header. You might want to offer that option or leave it without a name so users can add their own. Heck, you could even charge a few bucks to customize the theme by putting whatever name the user might want in the header. Just something to think about.

I do like the way you cut up the image in the header and I may do something similar with mine. I haven’t decided yet. I do like my old theme and will be using the same image.

Anyway, I hope this helps and good job on creating this theme. I expect it will be popular.

I thought about releasing the theme with two different headers; one with the theme name (which I released) and a blank one with the option to display the person’s blog title and description.

…and I just realized that, for some reason, I didn’t save the changes I had made to the CSS after making the CSS file nice and neat before releasing the theme to the public. Though my images are displaying correctly on my weblog; I’m thinking the reason why your images appear off the main part is because of the way I didn’t specify everything in the ‘main’ div to move over 15px or 20px or whatever it’s supposed to be. Which, now that I see it, is something that needs fixed :) . Thanks for pointing these out to me; I like knowing where to improve my CSS so that people don’t have display problems!

Thank you, Don, but the design you are referring to was not done by me. Now I’ve changed it again, using my own design and I hope you like it as well.

I was wondering what happened to you and hoped you were doing well. Glad to see that you are okay.
