The Title

Wild Mind is the title of a book written by Natalie Goldberg that I read many, many, many moons ago. The premise of the book is to help writers unlock, or tap into, their creative mind through the writing process. The author calls it writing practice and the creative mind space it leads to is called “Wild Mind”. While the book is focused on helping writers get past their eternal editors mind (writers block) and write something of creative substance, it also helps non-writers find a voice that hasn’t been heard and the written word becomes more powerful than any spoken word can ever hope to accomplish. More powerful because it opens the tap of fluid thought where intimacy with the unconscious mind can blossom, where all things are possible, and where personal truth resides.

Everyone has a story to tell, a gift to give, an expression to express to themselves and their world, no matter how big or small their world may be. The hard part may be in finding the medium needed to tell the story, give the gift, and express their unique expression. For some it will be through writing, others may paint, draw, or design and build things, work with numbers, teach, nurture, etc. Whatever their creative journey may look like, daily writing can foster an expanded view of their internal and external perceptions.

For me writing has been difficult and rewarding but doing it on paper for self-expression and understanding is far different than doing it publicly via a blog. How much will I allow others to know about me? I hope I will allow my Wild Mind complete expression.
